About the role
The Software Commissioning & Support Engineer is responsible for configuring, commissioning, and supporting folder gluers. This role ensures smooth machine operation, provides technical support
both remotely and on-site, and contributes to continuous improvement of automation systems. The position is based in Joure, the Netherlands. On-site support requires international travel. It is estimated to be 1 week assignment every 1-2 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and commission PLC-based motion and control software for folder gluers.
- Integrate and test automation systems including motion control, fast I/O glue systems, machine control, and advanced HMI.
- Provide customer support remotely and on-site, troubleshooting complex issues under time pressure.
- Perform diagnostics on both software and hardware, including opening cabinets, checking wiring, and resolving electrical/mechanical faults.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to implement modifications and upgrades.
- Train operators and maintenance staff on machine operation and software use.
- Document commissioning activities, troubleshooting steps, and customer feedback for continuous improvement.

You have
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in industrial automation, commissioning, or field service engineering.
- Strong background in PLC programming and motion control. Experience with Sigmatek hardware is preferred; knowledge of B&R, Beckhoff, Siemens, or Rockwell also valuable.
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting machines without extensive documentation.
Candidate Profile:
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Practical, hands-on engineer not afraid to work inside electrical cabinet.
- Flexible and adaptable to international customer environments.
- Strong communication skills in English, willingness to learn Dutch.
- Able to work independently and under pressure, with a focus on customer satisfaction.
